Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practised in India for over a thousand years. It works by stimulating pressure points along the meridians which release blocked energy. This energy is also known as chakras.

Indian head massage uses and adapts classic swedish massage techniques for treating the scalp, face, neck, shoulders, upper back and upper arms. It is extremely effective for treating stress because it works on the areas of the body most affected - the shoulders, upper back, neck and head.

Indian head massage is performed, usually with the client fully clothed, sitting in an upright chair and the therapist uses a range of different massage movements including application of deep kneading and compression over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. In addition the therapist will also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face and base of skull and pull the hair.
